Art making, or doing anything with our hands is therapeutic; cooking, gardening, sculpting, drawing, painting...these things soothe our soul. Stream of Consciousness Art making techniques are a low-investment way to get acquainted with art making, calm the nervous system, get in touch with our subconscious, and allow ourselves to escape and just play with our office/ art materials.

I mean, we could all use a little escape right now to help regulate our collective nervous system!

The Magic is in the Making.

Think of the adage, Process over Product.

Don't concern yourself with the outcome, release control, and leave room for the magic to happen.

If your work at the end is the most hideous thing you've ever made, Perfect! You've released something ugly that was probably weighing you down. Can you obliterate it and give it a new life? Can you upcycle it into something beautiful by cutting it into pieces and using it as collage material, a notecard, book mark or gift tag? It can also be a great release, and thoughtful gifted, sold, or to never be seen again.

Again, the magic is in the making.

My Open Studio friend, Kay came into the studio with several really interesting pieces she made at home. She explained that they were Neuro graphic works, which led Claudia to chime in with her experiences with it, and that started the buzz!!! I went home and made a few of my own. What was a release for me then apparently resonated with a friend and off it went to its new home! Thank you, Kellie for supporting my business! When I take the time to reflect on these moments - which I am just now starting to make time for - I am amazed everyday and so grateful for the creative life I live. It's messy and hard, but so, so beautiful. I am grateful for the privilege.

Here are some enjoyable methods from neurolaunch.com to help you begin an art-making practice that allows you to access the subconscious and experience the relaxation and therapeutic benefits of art!!

Happy magic-making!
