I recently had the immense pleasure of reconnecting with the exceptionally talented artist Haeley Kyong for a special Fly-on-the-wall Branding Photoshoot that took place in her beautifully appointed studio located in the serene surroundings of Franklin Lakes, NJ. The studio itself is a reflection of Haeley's artistic vision, filled with color, light, intriguing textures, and an array of artworks that invite contemplation and admiration.
Haeley and I share a rich history that dates back to our days at The Delaware Contemporary, a vibrant hub for artistic expression and education. During my time there, I had the unique opportunity to serve as a teaching artist, and later, I took on the role of Director of Education. It was in this dynamic environment that I first encountered Haeley, who was an emerging studio artist at the time. I was fortunate enough to witness her artistic journey unfold, as her pieces were showcased in both the studio artists’ gallery and the main gallery, where they captivated audiences with their emotional depth. The connection we forged during those formative years has only strengthened over time, making this recent photoshoot not just a professional engagement, but a heartfelt reunion that allowed us to celebrate our shared passion for art and creativity.

Our paths crossed again when she reached out to honor her grandson’s baek-il, or 100th-day celebration, with an in-home family photo session in the picturesque town of May’s Landing, NJ. This significant milestone, deeply rooted in Korean culture, celebrates the survival and health of a newborn during their first 100 days of life, and it was clear that Haeley wanted to commemorate this special occasion in a meaningful way. As I arrived at their home, I was greeted with the warm smiles and open arms of Haeley's son and daughter-in-law, who were just as welcoming and kind as I remembered Haeley to be. Their hospitality set a delightful tone for the day, creating a relaxed atmosphere. Surrounded by love of his parents, her grandson stole the show with his adorable charm.
With a palpable buzz surrounding her innovative work and a multitude of exciting new opportunities on the horizon, Haeley decided it was the perfect moment to reach out for a unique "fly on the wall" style photo session in her light filled studio. This approach would allow her to capture candid moments that reflect her creative process and artistic journey. The goal was to curate a stunning gallery of images that she could utilize across her social media platforms, enhance her website's visual appeal, and leverage for any upcoming opportunities that might arise in her career.
